Aberavon R.F.C. Former Players'
Association
|
Newsletter
The title is something which is long overdue, an idea which has been
talked about by so many players when they have met up. Sadly, nothing has
transpired and all good intentions have soon evaporated away. However, a
few of us presently at the club, are determined to instigate, develop and
set up, a Former Players' Association. This is something which should have
been started many years ago.
We are setting out to advertise the existence of the Association in the
Local Press and on our Web Sites:
www.aberavonwizards.co.uk
and
www.aberavonrfcmembers.co.uk
We also intend to set up a database registering all our former players,
together with their addresses and telephone numbers.
It has been decided that players registering should have played a minimum
of six games, entitling them to having received a player's tie. To get
things off the ground, we are planning a meeting of all those interested
players on the 12th of April 2008. The function will be held in the Phil
Morgan Lounge at the Aberavon Social Club, on the last Home Game of the
season. Aberavon will be hosting Bedwas RFC on that day.
So, if you intend supporting such an event, or whether you just want to
register your name as a former player, we would be delighted to see you.
In any event, we would be grateful if you would email your name, address,
phone/mobile number to
reunion@aberavonwizards.co.uk and indicate what era you played in
(1940's, 1950's, 1960's, 1970's,1980's, 1990's or 2000's).
Hopefully, this could be the start of something big. We hope to see you
then.
Our Best Wishes to you all,
Ray Giles & Les Keen
