Wizards' victory spoiled by the weather — and the ref
Aberavon gained four points for a win in a match ruined by wind, rain and constant whistling.
Cross Keys lost flanker Rhys Peebles after just five minutes of Friday night's game, and three minutes later Aberavon took the lead.
Aaron Bray broke clear and sent centre Chris Tossell over under the posts for Jamie Davies to convert.
Keys replied with a Gareth David penalty, and he repeated the feat two minutes later to leave his side just one point behind.
Referee Leighton Hodges dominated with continual whistling, though a Jamie Murphy break did take Aberavon to the line.
Heavy pressure saw scrum-half Dan Davies pass to lock Gavin Ronan, who crashed over for Jamie Davies to convert.
David struck back one minute later with his third penalty, and wing Will Johnstone was almost over seconds later.
Home flanker Chris Davies returned just before the interval having served 10 minutes in the sin-bin, yet Aberavon led 14-9 at the break.
Murphy missed a long-range shot at goal, but referee Hodges was now whistling every other minute.
Skipper Ian Moore came off the bench to replace Ronan after 51 minutes as the rain poured down.
Jamie Davies missed a penalty and the packs clashed, with punches thrown as the referee lost control.
Davies converted a penalty after 60 minutes and Keys had forwards Groves and Bridges yellow-carded.
Aberavon worked a position for a possible score but Nathan Trowbridge intercepted and took play back to halfway.
The rain ceased for the final 10 minutes, but when Aberavon looked clear referee Hodges was in the way to prevent a score.
Aberavon still looked for another try as Keys had a third yellow card, but the conditions proved too difficult.
