A try deep in injury time by Cardiff full-back Roger Davies drew the sides level, despite the fact Wizards had led by ten points barely five minutes earlier.

| and Blacks, slotted the tricky conversion that consigned Aberavon to their second successive defeat.
|
Moments earlier Gareth Davies, a 60th minute replacement, had shown great vision to punt a kick across the face of the visitors’ goal-line for Leigh Halfpenny to catch it on the full for the try that started Cardiff’s unexpected comeback.
It was hard luck on the Wizards, who will take little consolation from a bonus point for losing by less than seven points.
They had led 10-0 after 20 minutes and 23-13 after an hour thanks to excellent tries by Liam Gadd, who had led the side out on his one hundredth appearance, Richard Carter and Marc Bennett, and a snap drop goal by Darren Ryan.
The Blue and Blacks kept in touch thanks to Roger Davies’ first try, a fine individual effort on the brink of half-time, and the goal kicking of Craig Evans.
If Aberavon were shell-shocked after the final whistle, Cardiff’s director of coaching Justin Burnell summed up his own team’s situation when he said: “A year ago we would have lost the match once we were 10 points behind.
“Now we are made of sterner stuff.”
