29.07.2008 - Aberavon prepare for Principality Premiership campaign
Aberavon will play host to three English teams in pre-season friendlies as they prepare for their Principality Premiership campaign.
Their opening game is this Saturday at home against National League 1 side London Welsh in a repeat of a hard fought friendly two seasons ago where the Wizards won 13 - 8.
The following weekend another National League 1 side comes to the Talbot Athletic Ground as Coventry take on the Wizards.
On Aug 16th, Aberavon's only away pre-season game see's them take the short trip to Llynfi Road to play Maesteg, who were relegated from the Premiership at the end of last season.
In the final warm-up game the Wizards come face to face with their former coach Chris O'Callaghan as English National League 2 side Waterloo visit Aberavon.
The games will give Aberavon's new squad signings a run out before their opening Premiership game against local rivals Swansea at the beginning of September.
The signings include prop James Jones (Waterloo), backrow Arwel Davies (Llandovery), full backs Luke Hathaway (Newport) and Chris Lewis (Tonmawr/Ospreys U18), centres Richard Thomas (Llanelli) and Ben John (Loughor/Ospreys U18/Wales U18), lock Nathan White (Bridgend), flanker Rory Gallagher (Dunvant), scrum half David Pritchard (Maesteg/Ospreys U20), backrow James King (Mold/Wales U18) and hooker Ceri Davies (Dunvant/Ospreys U18). Also training with the Wizards are second row Morgan Evans (Bridgend Athletic/Ospreys U18) and James Jenkins.
Admission to pre-season games at the Talbot Athletc Ground is £3 (£2 concession).

Saturday August 9th - KO 2:30pm - Aberavon v Coventry (Talbot Athletic Ground)
Saturday August 16th - KO 2:30pm - Maesteg v Aberavon (Llynfi Road)
Saturday August 23rd - KO 2:30pm - Aberavon Waterloo (Talbot Athletic Ground)
